Apple is expected to release a new iPhone model in the near future that will feature a better speaker. If you have an iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro, you may be able to receive a free speaker in exchange for your support. This is not a new policy by Apple, but it has been more common in the past. In fact, many people have received free speakers in exchange for their feedback on Apple products. So if you’re interested in receiving one, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Apple representative.

Apple has discovered an issue that may cause audio problems for select iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices that cause the speakers to stop working. If this happens to your phone, Apple will fix it for free.

“Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may experience sound issues due to a component that might fail on the receiver module. Affected devices were manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021,” Apple said on a support page.

“If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro does not emit sound from the receiver when you make or receive calls, it may be eligible for service,” the support page continues.

The issue only applies to iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro phones. So if you’re having audio issues with an iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, you won’t be eligible for this repair program (though your device may still be under warranty depending on when you purchased it).

Suppose your phone has an audio issue, and you want to get it fixed. In that case, you can find an Apple Authorized Service Provider, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact Apple Support to arrange mail-in service via the Apple Repair Center. Either way, Apple will make sure the audio is working on your phone without charging you.

Important to note is that Apple says, “If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the additional repair.”

Finally, Apple will cover your device for up to two years from the date of purchase with this program. This gives you an extra year compared to the normal warranty.
